On the go, driving in the car, or out for a run? Now you can listen to this newsletter below (audio only).
Second week in a row recording...new mic...let me know what you think.
Hey, Reader,
So…how’s your holiday shopping going?
Are you the type who knocks it out early, beautifully wrapped, labeled, and hidden away…
Or the one grabbing last-minute gifts while muttering,
“I swear I’ll do this earlier next year.”
Admittedly, I sit somewhere in the middle.
I usually embrace Black Friday and Cyber Monday out of sheer convenience, being able to order from the comfort of my phone (mostly for my kids)…
Then I spend the rest of December trying to finish the list for everyone else.
Teachers.
Friends.
Family.
All of it.
But in the middle of all this gift-buying chaos, something hit me...
Growing on LinkedIn is not that different from giving gifts.
(Bear with me.)
Most clients I work with want one of two things by being on the platform...
- More clients
- A bigger audience / stronger network
Both are great goals.
But both require the same thing.
You have to give before you get.
The gift of...
Time.
Attention.
Encouragement.
Interest.
You don’t earn trust by showing up only when you want something.
Think about the last time you financially invested in someone’s service…
It probably wasn’t because they dropped one “perfect” post that immediately made you pull out your credit card.
(And if that's happened...I want to see that post!)
It was probably because...
- They consistently showed up time and time again
- You felt seen by their words
- You trusted them because they were familiar
- The relationship already existed before the offer ever did
Chances are, they might have even...
- Thoughtfully responded to your comments
- Sent you a DM that wasn’t copy/paste
- Acknowledged something personal in your profile
- Followed up meaningfully in a real way
- Or thanked you, and you could feel it
They didn’t sell you.
They built a connection with you.
And as relational beings, we want to connect in some way long before conversions are even considered.
Connection is a Daily Deposit
High-quality growth doesn’t come from shortcuts.
I've been on LinkedIn for 3 years, and my growth is the result of constant posting, engaging, and making it a point to talk off the platform whenever possible.
It all compounds.
Your behavior online and offline needs to connect.
Even in a recent webinar with Jasmin Alic, he said something that made me smile. He said...
“If you want to beat the algorithm…comment more.”
Not “post more.”
Not “hack more.”
Not “optimize your hooks to death.”
Comment more.
Because when you take the time to comment, you signal something important to the other person reading that...
“I’m not just here to watch, but I'm here to participate and learn more about you.”
And LinkedIn rewards that as a social platform...
But more importantly…
And what we actually should be caring about...is that our audience takes notice of this because it's real.
So I’ll leave you with this...
If you want more from LinkedIn in 2026…
Look at where you're focusing your energy today.
What are you giving right now?
Are you actively encouraging others while you're on LinkedIn?
Are you going beyond posting and trying to have more conversations?
And then when possible...are you moving past the platform to have a virtual chat or meet up in person?
It's this very combination that has allowed my business to grow to where it is today.
Because growth doesn’t start only with posting.
It starts with more dialogue and going deeper 1-on-1.

Founder Spotlight
This issue, I get to spotlight someone I’ve known for years...Katie Chew.
Katie and I worked together in my corporate life, and I can tell you this with complete confidence...when she says she’ll show up for you, she does. Every single time.
Today, she’s channeling that same level of care into something truly meaningful and helping mothers have a smoother, more supported parental-leave experience.
As a fractional CMO, Katie steps in to cover the workload while a mom is out on leave, but the part I love most? She also helps her transition back into work without the overwhelm. And as a mom, I can remember this well!
If you’re preparing for parental leave (or know someone who is), Katie put together a resource I wish existed back in my corporate days...
A simple, practical guide to help you feel prepared before stepping away.
Katie is doing work that matters, supporting moms during one of the biggest transitions of their careers, and I couldn’t be happier to feature her.
