My honest predictions for LinkedIn in 2026

Hey, Reader,

Today is Thursday, December 18th, and it won't be long before we'll be ending our dates with "2026."

Is it hard to believe?

Honestly, I'm ready to turn the page.

I've seen incredible growth this year with my business, but personally...it's been a roller coaster.

And although I've been grateful (truly grateful) for what some of the valleys have taught me, I'm happy to move onward and upward.

So, with that said, here's what I'm thinking you can expect on the platform over the next year (and maybe what to do differently)...

1. It's not about the impressions.

If high impressions fuel your motivation on LinkedIn, I’m not sure you’ll make it past Q1. (Sorry, but true.)

Impressions are trending down across the platform, and they have been for a lot of 2025.

LinkedIn has adjusted the algorithm to encourage boosted posts, AI-generated content is flooding the feed, and more individuals than ever are publishing daily.

Naturally, the estimated eyeballs on your content will be affected. But here’s what I want you to hold on to in the new year...

MORE conversations, not high impressions, grow your business.

Impressions will come and go.

So yes...let it go.

I'm going full Frozen Disney movie reference here. And I want you to think about Anna in the movie and just do the next right thing.

It's about not getting hung up on impression numbers and instead getting to know actual people on the platform.

Trust me, you'll be happier and more profitable.

2. Personal experience will matter more than ever.

As AI continues to flood our feeds, generic content will become easier and easier to spot. I think it will feel like ads we end up subconsciously bypassing.

People don't want to read posts with well-known AI phrases everyone's using. They want your story...in your words.

Your day-to-day experiences need to become your appeal in your content.

Talk about...

What you’re noticing in client conversations.

What someone in the DMs said was helpful.

What didn’t go as planned, and what you did next.

What you’re learning with links to resources you want others to know about, too.

While AI is improving, you still have to LIVE these experiences to feed it with the detailed information that will help it stand out.

3. Consistency will beat short bursts of activity.

I know the phrase, "Just be consistent," might be getting old. I feel blah saying it right now.

But there's truth to it.

Those who are going to be fans of the platform and see actions compound are going to be the ones who look at LinkedIn as a business lifestyle change rather than a quick fix.

LinkedIn is a habit.

I have no other way to put it.

Furthermore, consistency shouldn't be just about a posting schedule. But also around how you're looking at connecting.

The question on repeat in your brain should be...“Who am I reaching out to today?

Your posts create awareness, yes. And you need them.

But the time you devote to intentional conversations (back to #1) will transform LinkedIn for you from another social platform into a true relationship engine.

And relationships drive opportunity.

4. Get clear on what you want to be known for (a.k.a positioning).

When I became more active on the platform in 2023, I was known for SEO and SEO writing. I had both this analytical and creative mix from my corporate life.

But in 2025, I really wanted to pivot more into LinkedIn personal brand building. And yes, there are lots of LinkedIn coaches and communities out there. But I come to the table with a structured system (profile optimization/content strategy/engagement coaching) and a perspective from the 9-5, focused on ROI and data-informed decision-making.

Oh...and I believe strongly in sharing parts of your life...like my doggies:)...

So settling on what you want to be known for doesn't have to be permanent, but by knowing and repeating what you do...it's how you get remembered when that "thing" is needed by others.

Clarity beats creativity.

If it's even a question of what you do... 9 times out of 10, they're moving on to someone who is saying it clearly.

So make sure others know, without a doubt, the problems you help solve.

5. Content formats: The real 2026 Practicality

Being successful on LinkedIn doesn’t require you to master every content format.

Of the options...text posts, text + image, carousels/PDFs, video, articles, and newsletters...you only need a couple to keep it fresh for your audience.

Two formats keep your content varied but prevent overwhelm.

Two formats help you stay consistent for nine straight months, which is a big LinkedIn win.

And if designing graphics feels like a barrier?...

I've been working with my husband, a fantastic designer, and we've been creating Canva templates for founders who need a template and a bit of branding flair.

(Selfies aren't the only option for your visual!)

Reply now if this is something you need.

The thing is, visuals shouldn't be stopping you from showing up repeatedly on LinkedIn!

Final Thoughts

The people who win in 2026 will be in it for the long haul.

They'll understand how posts are part of it, but conversations are an even bigger part.

Consistency will be their theme because they know it's what the algorithm watches (and also what helps them establish a habit).

They'll be kind with their time commenting, but also know when it's time to step away and actually meet up in real life.

And they’ll treat LinkedIn less like a billboard and more like a room full of real people where questions are asked, and helpful thoughts are shared.

How are you feeling about 2026?
