βοΈ 8 Invisible LinkedIn Mistakes
(Stop hurting your reach.)
Hey, Reader,
I recently spoke at the HR Collaborative Conference, so I have some new subscribers here. If that's you, thank you and welcome!
If your posts aren't getting enough...

Engagement
New followers
It might not be the algorithm. It might be you.
But the good news is, you can fix it.
Are you doing any of these things today?
And if so...no shame. I'm here to help you:)
#1. Weak First 3 Lines
The first 3 lines are what you have to hook readers immediately.
Spark interest with your words.
Give them that "must-stop" scroll urge to read more π
My video post - top one for impressions 100K, but #7 in top 10 for engagements (146)
#2. Unintentional Headlines
The first 45 characters of your headline follow you everywhere.
If it's unclear or lacking keywords, people won't click to view your profile.
Make it easy to understand and memorable.
#3. Ignoring Engagement On Your Posts
Don't post and ghost.
Make time to reply to comments on your post soon after you hit publish.
The LinkedIn algorithm notices if you're not active.
Reserve time to engage after you go live to get the most out of the effort you went into creating and posting in the first place.
I promise, it's time well spent.
#4. Not Posting At The Right Time
If your audience isn't online when you post, your engagement suffers.
Utilize the "golden hour."
In the U.S., it's from 7-9 a.m. when people are on the platform more.
Post at the time your target audience is hanging out on LinkedIn.
#5. No Content Variety
Are you only posting text?
Try mixing it up with...
Text with a graphic you can create in Canva
Carousel posts with several slides
A 60-90 sec video
Experiment with different content types that you enjoy creating and that your audience enjoys engaging with.
#6. Not Engaging With Others' Posts
If you never comment on other people's posts, LinkedIn will see you as inactive.
Give engagement to get engagement.
Don't just respond to comments, but also seek out their posts and comment there.
β
#7. Not Optimizing For Mobile
Big text blocks = people scroll past.
Use shorter paragraphs...
line breaks...
bold options.
This makes for much easier reading.
#8. Not Ending With a Question
You want to spark engagement!
No question means no prompt to spark a dialogue in the comments.
And no comments mean little to no reach.
Always be thinking about, "What's the next action you want your reader to take?" An easy-to-answer and relevant question at the end of your post can help every time.
β Fill Your Cup
Do all speaking events happen at once?!
That seems to be the case for me right now.
As I mentioned, earlier this week I was speaking at the HR Collaborative Conference in Cincinnati...
I'm nervous but so excited!
And May 6th-9th I get to be part of Austin Church's virtual Summit, Growth Without Burnout, for advanced freelancers.
I'm enjoying the ride, and it's definitely filling my cup:)
