Quick Poll Question:

Hey, Reader,

Last week was the first week after 64 issues that I took the week off.

Could I have pushed to squeeze out a newsletter?

Sure.

But did my mental health need a break with other things going on?

It absolutely did.

So I skipped a week.

But I didn’t want to lose out on an opportunity to ask others what I should include in an upcoming issue.

And a connection of mine gave a great suggestion.

His request was for me to write about a practical application of Gen AI.

And so, after some thought, I decided on sharing one AI prompt to help you create a LinkedIn social post.

From comments on social, it sounds like a few of you would like help sharing your story and experiences more in your content.

So if you’re struggling with where to start, maybe this will give you a spark.

Here’s the AI prompt framework to reference...

"I want to write an engaging LinkedIn post that is [insert the vibe you’re going for with your brand] and sparks thought from readers while encouraging engagement.

My main topic is: [Insert Topic]

My audience seems to care a lot about: [Insert audience insights]

This is my experience related to the topic in more detail: [Insert details of your personal experience]

When it comes to the criteria of my post, make sure it...

  • Starts with a strong hook that's engaging and stops the scroll
  • Sets the scene in a storytelling way
  • Teases out the discomfort of the challenge
  • Provides a solution or reframe for my audience to benefit from
  • Ends with a strong CTA to encourage further engagement in the comments

Use [insert the tone of the copy]. Add [insert personality traits unique to you]. Make sure it sounds conversational, like it’s from a real person."

Here’s the AI prompt I typed into ChatGPT with my details…

"I want to write an engaging LinkedIn post that comes off educational, approachable, and inspiring while sparking thought from my readers.

My main topic is: How to set up your content for long-term business goals

My audience seems to care a lot about: Partnering with someone who thinks "big picture" of how content supports growth, brand awareness, SEO, and their business goals.

This is my experience related to the topic in more detail: Content efforts don’t immediately show results. It takes patience. For example, a SEO blog article I wrote for a client and published exactly a year ago is currently the major reason for 81% of organic search traffic coming to the site today.

Use copy that asserts me as the authority on the topic. Add an inspirational and kind feel to it. Make sure it sounds conversational, like it’s from a real person. "

Here’s what it popped out…..

Not horrible, but...

  • Hashtags have to go
  • "planted the right seeds" isn't an analogy I would say
  • "Crickets" feels overused - need to remove
  • Some of the phrasing I just need to rewrite

But it's a start!

Here’s what the final post ended up being with my edits…

The Takeaway

You can see how I still edit quite a bit with what AI creates based on my prompts.

But there is definitely some efficiency here, not having to start from scratch.

And I’m sure the better I can get at prompting, the better my AI output will be. You can do it, too:)
