✍️ LinkedIn Business & Personal Pages: Where to focus?

Reader,

One of the most common questions asked during clarity calls with me is...

👉 Should I focus more on my business page or my personal page on LinkedIn?

And most of the time, that answer is simple - your personal page.

BUT, there are a few other caveats.

Let me elaborate...

If you’re an individual founder or a solopreneur…

I’m 99% of the time going to say...put the majority of your energy into your personal page.

Why?

Because simply put...people buy from people.

We’re wired for connection, and that connection is way easier to build from you (a person) than from a business with a company logo.

Your personal profile allows you to show up as a human with all the emotions involved.

It helps you tell stories, share experiences, and build trust in a way that's much harder with a business page.

Sure, a business page can add professionalism. (I’ve even debated creating one for this newsletter to drive awareness!) And a few clients I work with have both (their personal page and a business page).

But if you’re a one-woman (or one-man) show and you’re trying to streamline your focus because you're limited on time, I would start with your personal page first.

It's where you’ll see more immediate return on your time investment.

If you have the time or capacity, OR you’re part of a larger company or team…

This is where the strategy shifts a bit.

When you have more time or hands on deck (maybe you’ve got a marketing team, or even a few freelancers supporting content creation), having a solid business page presence and consistent activity from your personal page makes sense.

In fact, I’d argue that the most powerful LinkedIn strategies for brands is to marry the two eventually.

✔️ The business page builds organizational credibility, shares company updates, and promotes key initiatives.

Just don't let it drown in "we're proud to announce" posts. The content still needs to be exciting and worth reading.

✔️ Your individual page builds that human connection, shows thought leadership, and helps people feel what the brand stands for.

You or senior leaders of a larger organization become the face behind the logo. And often (when done right), your content complements the business, giving it that more approachable vibe.

A few more things to think about...

👉 Engagement starts with you.

People engage with people. Even if you do have a business page, don’t expect it to carry the full weight of your content strategy.

Your audience will still crave hearing from the founder or leader behind the business. And it's important to reserve time to respond to comments and strike up conversations in the DMs.

👉 Your business page can act as a content library.

Use it to house evergreen posts about what the business does, spotlight key employees (if you're a larger org), and announce what the business is doing behind the scenes to help others.

Then, to drive more visibility, you can reference these posts from your personal page.

But don't get into a routine of reposting everything from your personal page to your business page. The business page should have some core content that stands on its own.

👉 If you’re tight on time, choose the place where your voice feels most authentic, and go all in.

Take an honest look at your current state—your capacity and your goals—and build from there.

And if you’re still unsure what’s right for you, send me a note. I’m always happy to help you think it through!

☕ Fill Your Cup

My cup (and arms) are definitely full these days...literally:)

If you missed my LinkedIn post last week, what started as a trip to the pet store with my kids to "just look at a bunny" ended with these two pups going home with us.

Meet our spunky girl, Sabrina, on the left, and Chili, our chill man, on the right.

These are my two new content coworkers, and let's just say my productivity has been affected, lol.

Bring on the...

Cuddles...

Pee stains...

And cute photos.

These two new additions definitely add some interest to our summer.

How about you?

What's filling your cup this summer so far?
