So, Reader...

How do you know your social post is actually driving leads?

Here’s a pretty good sign...

It brings real conversations (and real business) to your DMs.

I had a post like this just last week. It prompted 7 qualified leads to reach out to me.

So what made it convert?

Let me share a few key elements that I think mattered.

It started with a social proof story.

I’m a huge fan of social proof posts told in story form. They work because they...

  • Pull readers in immediately through emotion
  • Build credibility without feeling salesy
  • And show results through a narrative flow that's entertaining to read

Here’s how to frame it...

Start by setting the scene with how you were feeling in the moment.

With those statements...

"I almost didn't go."

"I almost chose to stay comfortable."

Doesn't it immediately make you curious about what I almost didn't do?

This is the hook.

But then shortly after those first two lines, I went into why it was good that I did, because one of those reasons was meeting my client.

So think about your own business.

How did a current client of yours find you?

Did you meet at an event? Was it a DM that started with a curious question?

When you lead with a lived experience story, sharing your honest emotions and thoughts...it immediately pulls more people in.

There's also a strategy to tagging intentionally.

Tag 1–2 people in your post that are relevant to the story.

Why?

A few reasons...

It builds your relationship with these folks by calling them out and noting how much you enjoyed collaborating and shining a light on their talents.

It gives you increased credibility, identifying actual people you've worked, which is a positive in the eyes of those following you.

It boosts reach, helping you get in front of new people (tapping into their connections).

It often sparks comments and reposts, creating that good vibe of engagement.

I tagged both my client and the photographer in the post.

And I know for a fact it absolutely helped with attracting those leads because the majority of them came from their networks.

Use a clear visual.

A strong image can further strengthen your post.

For this one, I opted for a simple before-and-after comparison of the client’s above-the-fold LinkedIn profile page.

No clutter. No additional paragraphs of copy.

Just one question...

"Is your profile positioned to attract opportunities?"

But I didn't arrive here immediately.

I wish I had the earlier versions to show you. Let's just say it was way too much copy!

Ultimately, I decided to let the text portion of my post do the explaining. And I tried to keep the graphic as simple as possible.

The result was a clean visual showing the main part of the work.

Think about ending with a direct CTA.

Almost every post should include a CTA (call-to-action). That's something I stress often.

It doesn’t have to be “salesy.” In fact, I try to intentionally avoid that vibe.

Instead, your CTA can be as simple as a question to start engagement.

But when you’re showcasing client results (as I was doing in this post), I think it's wise to direct it to your ideal customers as much as possible.

It is important to clarify who you're trying to work with in the future.

For me, I ended with...

"If you’re a CEO or founder who’s already doing great work but wants a strong brand presence on LinkedIn…this is the kind of clarity, confidence, and connection I help build."

The Results?

Beyond the likes and comments, the real win was 7 qualified leads sliding into my DMs...from one post.

That’s the power of mixing storytelling, strategy, and intention on LinkedIn.

☕ Fill Your Cup

So this week I’m back from vacation from a week in Rodanthe, NC, and I’ve got a confession to make…

I worked almost every day.

Yep, I didn’t completely unplug.

And honestly, unplugging completely never makes me feel settled. In fact, I feel a tad bit more anxious if I'm being honest.

There’s just something about building your own thing…

It’s feels like a flame is always burning.

You control the pace…

Work more or not.

The potential is yours for the taking.

It makes me feel grateful and like I'm constantly in pursuit of what “could be.”

But don’t kid yourself…there’s a range of emotions to be felt on any given week.

Weeks where you feel the dips and question things.

Proposals when you hear the “Yes!”

And times when you get the "No, not right now."

Then moments where you go…”What’s the right move to make next?!”

All of it to say...

Building a business is hard.

There's no right or wrong way.

And you have to do what feels good for you.
